Storm Damage is Unpredictable -

Storms often announce their presence with warning signs, a dark sky and clouds rolling in quickly; TV stations, radios, and emergency mobile apps broadcast information to let us know when storms will happen, but storm damage is not always as predictable as the storm itself.  One home on a block may be just fine while another one down the road has severe damage from tree limbs.  Storm damage is categorized as damage to buildings and objects from weather related events, and Northeast Ohio has all four seasons packed full of weather related events.

Spring and Summer are considered to be the 'busy season' for storm damage, but this extends into the fall when the second wave thunderstorms hit.  And Ohioans are well aware that our winters bring ice, occasional hail, and snow, each one of them being known property destroyers.

Quick emergency response when you need it the most

Storms bring a host of damages, occasionally a fire from lightning strikes, but fallen trees tend to be the cause the most destruction in NE Ohio.  Whether from high winds or ice build up, fallen trees and tree limbs are big causes of damage to homes and businesses.  They can smash onto rooftops, break in windows, and in the worst case, entirely crush the home or business beneath it.  When this happens, you need a company that will quickly respond to your disaster, a company that specializes in storm damages and has all the equipment to put your life or business back together.

For the past 30 years, Unified Restoration Systems has been responding to emergencies and disasters all over NE Ohio and storm damage is one of our major focuses, as well as the main cause of our 'busy season'.  Moving a crew in quickly to respond to storm related damages is extremely important, because every moment counts to a family or business who has been displaced by this type of destruction.

Because storm damages often go hand-in-hand with water damage and can cause fire damage as well, a quick response can save thousands in lost property.  Unified Restoration Systems is committed and ready to handle any storm damage related task, from clean up to full restoration of your home or business, anywhere in Northeast Ohio.

What to expect

Debris Removal: Step one is to remove all of the debris that the storm has deposited onto your property, business, or home. We have heavy terrain forklifts standing by, to send crews up with chainsaws.  They will cut and remove limbs and tree trunks from the rooftop, piece by piece until the structure is free of debris.  Our ground crew collects anything on and around the yard or parking lot and disposes of it in big dumpsters.  Once this step is complete, we can begin on step two, the Damage Assessment.

Damage Assessment: We will take note of, photograph, and document all damage in and around the building, home, or office.  We inspect all areas of the home, including the utilities of the building, like plumbing and electricity. From the shingles on the roof to the basement foundation, hidden damages pop up in all forms, and our thorough inspection process is designed to catch them all.  Once the damage assessment is completed, the repair and restoration process can happen, and we use the damage assessment as our guide and plan to restore your property.

Repairs and Restoration: The third step is to rebuild and restore the building or home.  Whether the damage is large and widespread or concentrated in a single area, Unified Restoration Services has your back.  With over 30 years experience in the industry and working all over NE Ohio, our team knows what to do and how to get you back on your feet and into to your property as quickly as possible.

Not all storm damage is equal - How severe is my damage?

After a storm, its a good idea to take a walk around your property and look for damages and clear any sticks and tree limbs that you can safely move by hand.  Look all around at any buildings on the property and visually inspect them as you walk around.  Mild damages can sometimes go unnoticed but they tend to grow into bigger issues as time passes.  Moderate damage, and also severe damage, is immediately noticeable, parts of the home or office may be strewn around the property, crushed by fallen objects, or missing entirely.

  • Mild Storm Damage: Consists of light exterior damage that can be easy to miss.  Look for tree limbs and sticks on the rooftops and shingles that may be sticking up from the roof or missing.  These should be replaced before a leak appears.  Gutters that are vulnerable to wind damage can tear away from buildings and windows may have cracks in them.  Loose siding is also vulnerable to wind gusts and can be hanging off of the side of the home or office.  Generally, occupants are able to stay inside the building with mild storm damages.

  • Moderate Storm Damage: Consists of exterior structural damage that can stop the functions of the building and may not be safe to occupy. This can include damage, such as: broken windows, downed tree limbs that cause dents and lead to leaks inside of the building, and cracked siding and/or rooftops from hail and debris.  The building may not be habitable after some types of moderate storm damage.

  • Severe Storm Damage: Damages are widespread and can lead to a total loss of the building, meaning that everything will need to be rebuilt to complete the restoration.  This damage results from severe weather events like blizzards, hail storms, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes and hurricanes. Make a plan to stay elsewhere, the building will need major repairs and renovations.
