Hurricanes in the Buckeye State - Rough Weather Ahead
Akron is smack dab in the middle of hurricane season...

...and theres another couple months to go before it ends!
Now, I can hear you thinking... “But wait Ohio isn't even near an ocean, when do we get hurricanes??”
If you're been around long enough to remember, in September 2008, Hurricane Ike rampaged across the eastern side of the United States, throwing heavy rains and wind along its path. Winds reached nearly 75mph and caused loss of power to millions of households, even way up north in Ohio, while heavy rain soaked homes that were unable to pump the water out, due to loss of power. The storm caused over $100 Million dollars in property damage, to Ohio alone.
Restoration companies like Unified Restoration Systems were called out in droves to mitigate and repair damages done by the storm. Tree limbs were removed, homes and offices drained and dried, insurance claims were filed, windows replaced, and total restoration was completed on commercial and private property. This all happened due to one hurricane that hit Florida, 700 miles away!

This next week is going to be a literal whirlwind of weather activity, expect lots of rain. We recommend to check your basements after heavy rains for signs of water intrusion and take a walk around your property when you get a chance. Look for broken and downed limbs, big damage will stick out, but small damage like a bent gutter can be easily missed and later lead to water intrusion because the flow has been hampered.
